PRIVACY POLICY

Private by design.

This policy explains what Expiry Notify - Food Tracker stores, how page access works, and the choices available to you.

Effective July 21, 2026Applies to the Microsoft Edge extension
01

Overview

Expiry Notify - Food Tracker is a food shelf-life management extension for Microsoft Edge. It is designed to work without an account and to keep your saved records in your local browser profile.

In short

We do not sell your data, use advertising trackers, run analytics, or send your saved food records to the developer.

02

Data stored by the extension

When you add products, Expiry Notify may store the following information in Microsoft Edge local extension storage:

  • Product names and quantities
  • Production dates, shelf-life values, and calculated expiry dates
  • Optional notes entered by you
  • Optional product-image URLs selected from an order page
  • Reminder timing and language preferences
  • The date on which the most recent expiry notification was shown

This information remains in your Microsoft Edge browser profile unless you export it as a backup or delete the extension data.

03

Temporary page access

Expiry Notify receives temporary access to the active browser tab only after you choose Add from page or invoke the extension’s context-menu command. It locally examines visible order-related text, structured product information, and image references to suggest form values.

The extension does not continuously monitor your browsing, record your browsing history, or access pages in the background without a user action.

04

Data transmission and third parties

Expiry Notify does not transmit saved food records or settings to the developer, an advertising network, or an analytics provider. All executable JavaScript and CSS is included in the extension package; the extension does not download or execute remote code.

If you save a product-image URL from an order page, displaying that image can cause Microsoft Edge to request it from the original merchant or image host. That request is handled under the image host’s own privacy practices and may reveal ordinary network information such as your IP address to that host.

If you manually export a JSON backup, the file is saved to a location you choose. Expiry Notify does not upload that backup.

05

Notifications

System notifications are generated from your locally saved expiry records and reminder preference. They are limited to relevant expiry information and contain no advertising or unrelated promotional content.

06

Your choices and deletion

You remain in control of your records:

  • Delete individual products from the extension at any time.
  • Export a JSON backup before removing data.
  • Import a backup that you previously created.
  • Uninstall the extension to remove its local extension storage from the browser profile.
  • Use Microsoft Edge controls to disable notifications or revoke extension access.
07

Children’s privacy

Expiry Notify is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children or operate an account system through which such information could be submitted.

08

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the extension’s functionality or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published. Material changes will be reflected in the extension listing or release information where appropriate.
